Meet Ms. HJ
Ever since I was a young child, my dream was to become an Educator. I was inspired by my very first teacher Ms. Yoon. She provided me with nothing but love and care. Since that time, I wanted to be just like her, a Teacher.
During my studies in University, I began to truly understand how important the first few years of a child's life are in the learning process. It is the basis for all of their future development.
My own studies in English, as well as living abroad in New Zealand, put me on a course to teach the English language to children in Korea. Upon arriving in the United States, I found myself teaching the Korean language and culture to children as young as 2 to adults as old as 50.
While living in San Francisco, I was fortunate to have found wonderful Korean immersion programs. Claire Lilienthal and DoReMe Kids provided me with the opportunity to teach, and helped in the development of my own teaching philosophies. I bring over 15 years experience to the Pacific North West, and am so proud to call this home with my husband and the first LIL giant, our daughter. Together we are looking forward to enriching the Korean community with you.

“Our experience throughout the 5-6 years [with Ms. HJ] were so positive and amazing. She was definitely one of the best teachers at her previous daycare/preschool. Both our kids were so lucky to have her as their teacher from 1.5-5 yrs old (for my oldest) and 2-3 yrs old (for my youngest)”
- Julie K.
“Our family's experience with Ms. HJ to date has been exceptional. Khloe is always excited when it's lesson day and we are thrilled with the progress she has made with her Korean language. Her home environment, and location, is catered to hosting children and we are so thankful we got connected to her!”
- Katie L.
“HJ is definitely a solution seeker rather than a problem dweller. She communicates and looks for perspectives from people that can offer great perspective and solutions to issues that arise.”
- Criselda L.
“HJ built such a positive relationship with her students' parents that they were always happy to drop off their kids with her. Her positive relationship with everyone has so much to do with her ability to communicate effectively. She sends pictures, notes, artwork, and talks to parents consistently at the end of every day to make sure they know how their child's day was and if theres anything they need to look out for.”
- Criselda L.
"Ms. HJ was creative in her designing her teaching materials, and tailoring her lessons to the levels and ages that differed between the two girls. She had an easy and warm demeanor that allowed the girls to learn Korean happily; they looked forward to her lessons."
- Monica Y.
"Ms. HJ has a very creative, interactive, and hands-on style of teaching children to help them learn and express themselves. She planned engaging and interesting lessons and activities for the children, ranging from doing fun art projects, cooking dishes, and exploring science topics to writing Korean Hangul and learning about cultural traditions."
- Heather H.
"Ms. HJ is patient and kind. She is a good listener and super attentive. I can’t imagine how she is able to give her fully undivided attention to multiple kids at once."
- Sarah A.
